Zair the Wise is an old man that could be found in Paws during Ultima IV.

Zair claimed that he had somehow been near the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom, and that its secrets were boundless. Following a clue from Romasco, the Stranger asked him about the entrance to the Codex chamber. Zair told the Stranger that the hero needed a three part key and a word of passage to enter the Codex chamber. Zair told the Stranger to ask his brother who lived beyond Lock Lake about the word.
