Wartow is a very wise old man, living in New Magincia.
The Avatar met him in Ultima V. Wartow was content with enjoying his remaining years in peace. This gave the Avatar the impression that Wartow could be knowledgeable about Humility, especially after being told by Shirita to talk with him. Questioned about it, Wartow asked the Avatar if the hero hated Lord Blackthorn. Wartow was pleasantly surprised that the Avatar didn't let hate rule his actions, despite the crimes that Blackthorn had committed, and thus felt the hero worthy to know the mantra of Humility: LUM.
