Sam is the proprietor of Jolly Spirits during the time of Ultima IV.
Nate the Snake tells the Stranger that Sam knows of the Black Virtue Stone and, if he is tipped well, he will tell the Stranger;
- "Ah, the Black Stone. Yes I've heard of it. But, the only one who knows where it lies is the wizard Merlin."
