The Practice Sword
The Practice Sword actually isn't a real weapon. Instead, it is a fake sword made of wood for the purpose of training aspiring young warriors. Older warriors first give them these fake swords to make sure they learn the moves without the risk of injury.
In Ultima VII Part Two, the Avatar got Cantra's wooden practice sword from her mother Harnna after her disappearance in order to track her with the Hound of Doskar, since Cantra had had the sword for years by then and it had become a very personal item. After finally finding the hound, the sword proved useful, as the hound at once found the scent.
