The Mountain-Folk are a breed of humans which has a shorter body hight than the normal Britannian. In past days they'd been calles Dwarves, something which they today see as a huge offense. They basically have the same strangths and weaknesses as every human. In their culture, mining is especially common because of their smaller build and therefore greed for wealth isn't uncommon.
After the cataclysm that formed modern Britannia, the Mountain-Folk slowly assimilated into society and their shortness was slowly bred away over the years. By the time of the creation of the colony in the Abyss, their culture was in great danger of total assimilation. Since they weren't heard off in later times, it seems that exactly that happened in the end.
The Mountain-Folk known as "Dwarves" were first seen in Ultima I and then in Ultima II and Ultima III. They appeared one last time in Ultima Underworld, before being completely assimilated into britannian society.

Meeting Goldthirst
- Goldthirst is the leader of the Mountain-Folk in the failed Abyss-colony in Ultima Underworld. The Avatar can get an important item and a passwort for a favor. Later he/she can bribe Goldthirst with a huuge gold nugget to get a really good weapon.
- Shak is a blacksmith of unsurpassed skill in the Abyss-colony, who can ever repair the broken Caliburn sword.
