The eternal Flames of the Principles are besides the Book of Truth, the Candle of Love and the Bell of Courage, the most visible signs of the three principles in Britannia. Each of these flames is kept in the stronghold representing the principle.

The Flame of Truth

FlaTruth

The Flame of Truth

The Flame of Truth is located in the Lycaeum on Verity Isle.

In Ultima V, the keeper of the flame was Sir Sean, who gave the Avatar hints how to reach Stonegate. After finding the Shard of Flasehood, the Avatar summoned the Shadowlord Faulinei. Just when he hovered over the flame, the shard was cast in, and the Shadowlord destroyed.

No keeper of the flame was named in Ultima VI, although it is possible that Mariah herself had taken over this duty as the head of the Lycaeum.

Strangely enough, the Flame of Truth was not seen in Ultima VII.

The Flame of Love

FlaLove

The Flame of Love

The Flame of Love is located in Empath Abbey in north-western Britannia.

In Ultima V, the keeper of the flame was Barbra, who gave the Avatar a hint on what had happened to Lord British. After finding the Shard of Hatred, the Avatar summoned the Shadowlord Astaroth. Just when he hovered over the flame, the shard was cast in, and the Shadowlord destroyed.

No keeper of the flame was named in Ultima VI, although it is possible that Sionnach had taken over this duty as he was seen being in the vicinity of the flame very often.

Strangely enough, the Flame of Love was not seen in Ultima VII.

The Flame of Courage

FlaCourage

The Flame of Courage

The Flame of Courage is located in Serpent's Hold on the Isle of Deeds.

In Ultima V, the keeper of the flame was Gardner, who gave the Avatar a hint on where to find the Shard of Cowardice. After finding the Shard of Cowardice, the Avatar summoned the Shadowlord Nosfentor. Just when she hovered over the flame, the shard was cast in, and the Shadowlord destroyed.

The keeper of the flame in Ultima VI was Lady Tessa, as she told the Avatar when talking with her.

Strangely enough, the Flame of Courage was not seen in Ultima VII.
